HOW TO COMPUTE BMI OR BODY MASS INDEX?

Computing Body Mass Index

(step-by-step with explanation)

Formula:

BMI= \frac{weight}{height^{2}  }

Note: Ill be using the metric unit.

Example:

Weight = 60 kilograms

Height = 180 centimeters = 1.8 meters

Solution:

BMI= \frac{weight}{height^{2}  }

Substitute the weight and height.

BMI= \frac{60 kg}{(1.8m)^{2} }

Square the height first.

\\ BMI= \frac{60 kg}{3.24m}

Then, divide.

\left\begin{array}{ccc}BMI= 18.52\end{array}\right normal

Classification of your BMI.
